Excellent choice !  ..and your sense of humour in tantalising us with CRJ pics and then releasing this monster is as every bit as classy as we could expect from you..   :D   :D

..but you will still be releasing the CRJ series, won't you ?  Or are they in the hold of this one ?   :D

Thanks..

I'm sure there will come pictures of the plane on the frontpage soon. I'm not directly involved in the development of the plane, but I have been testing it, and have taking some screenshots of it (for the banner on the frontpage).

Now that's what I call a surprise! And I was just reading a thread in which someone said he hoped people would concentrate a little more on Russian models. Thanks very much!

Well, you'd all know me for a liar if I said my heart didn't sink when I saw this :(
I've been going through one hell of a rough patch lately, and I've been having guilt pangs about mine never leaving the hangar, so I can honestly say I'm far more happy to see a gorgeous AN-124 for AI available to everyone than I am bummed about mine's progress (or lack thereof)

Congrats and thanks guys! ::happy::

Hey team!!

Awesome model! We get these guys at Kabul almost every day and each time I'm impressed by its performance! Too bad they don't come here in your flightplans but that's quickly fixed hehe. I've attached a picture from the beast hidden in the Afghan dust, taken last week  :)

Reference the flightplans: I think the Russian Air Force flightplans aren't meant to be weekly, or they would only fly all together on Monday  ;)

AC#7,RA82023,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/06:00,@1/06:20,030,R,0000,UUEM,1/07:00,@1/07:20,030,R,0000,UUEM

Thanks a lot again for everyone's effort!

Oh right that explains a lot, I thought they were intended to be 2-hourly flightplans for circuits or so. Thanks  ;)

Problem is there are no pics taken at Kabul from them in the last year, so I couldn't send them there. Pictures and some ACARS data were the only information I had to build these plans.

But if you know better you are welcome to edit them for yourself :)

Nice.  I forgot about that incident.  Read the book by the pilot years ago, interesting story.  As a side note, my cousin is a P-3 pilot.  The places he has been and the stories I wish he could tell..

That's what the "Put in the Main FS Texture Folder" file is that we all did without reading the file name,  It's the DC-9's lightmap.

My friend has a cousin who was in the Royal Navy. He never mentioned any ships/boats he worked on, but he did say he once took a swim in Arkhangelsk harbour taking a few pictures. That was in the cold war days.
We had another friend who was on subs, a Killick Stoker which he pronounced as Killock. I used to ask him what a pillock stoker did.  :D

Excellent model!! Definately not expected by me, at least. I was waiting for a tiny regional jet, but we got a big Russian plane instead.  :D Great diversity!!

At least following:
BAe ATP
747 SP for some Arab VIP's and Axis of evil carriers
707
Falcon 900
Handley Page Jetstream 31 (maybe the ugliest PAI model left)
ERJ 135
And of course the single Tajik Air YAK.

I made thread about those surviving PAI models: http://www.alpha-india.net/forums/index.php?topic=2468.0 (http://www.alpha-india.net/forums/index.php?topic=2468.0)

AI world has came long way from the days I watched traffic at Heatrow and those PAI's Virgin A340's were so ugly that I needed to learn to install it manually so I never again need to see them. So came FSP and TFS and I've got hooked in AI world.

But as far as I know no one has painted thease Belgian Air Force planes (http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=123554) for it. ;)

As far as I know the E135 paintkit was never released, so only the *official AIM* painters can do it.

Yes, you can! All the PAI models needs a big update. Even the BAe ATP doesn't have flaps!..  ::mad::

While we're on the theme of models needing replacement or upgrades, I'll vote for the AIA 747 series or a completely new version.

Well done to the AIG team for this new one though, seen it once in FS and its wonderful.

notready I would vote for an aircraft not yet modelled for ai-purposes, like the Antonov An-148 or Antonov An-30. Also the Boeing 747SP could use a major upgrade. I think there are many models in much greater need of an upgrade than the AIA 747 wich is doing its job fine for now..
Title: Re: Antonov AN-124 from AIG!
Post by: johanfrc on July 23, 2008, 04:14:37 PM
All remaining FSPainter and PAI models needs to be replaced. I still think that the AIA, AIG, TFS etc is not needed to update.. Only PAI and FSP.
Title: Re: Antonov AN-124 from AIG!
Post by: Tupolev144 on July 23, 2008, 04:33:53 PM
I use the Posky 747SP as there aren't many flying and the framerate hit is bare minimum.

That reminds me of the very beginning days of ai-traffic, back in 2002 I think, when no ai-models where available at all. I can still remember the 'relief' in the community when PAI came out with their FPS-friendly ai planes in ready to use airline packages.

nice stuff

I was chatting to tyresmoke earlier today and we came up with the idea that the Citation 525 is wildly used and is not modeled i could request about 2 pages of liveries if this thing was created cos theirs loads of em out there

Lots of liveries but generally all variants of one another. These did attract my attention though

Great to see that nice Anotonov! When I was a child, I was travelling to Greece from Hannover with my parents, and saw one kneeling at the apron across the terminal - what a sight! Though I was convinced it must have had some nose gear failure while loading, since I didn't know of the kneeling mechanism...lol!

As far as business jets go, there are still some big holes. Rather surprisingly, the only AI Citation I know is the 550 from Henry, allthough these aircraft are propably some of the most prolific business jets. I would espescially love to see a Citation X. Cessna aircraft would be rather easy (but boring) to do a good package off, since they extensively use Cessna-provided standard liveries...A bit like the King Air or the Beech 400. Also, I find it rather surprising that no one did the rather iconic Falcon 50 and 2000. Another set of interesting aircraft that are strangely absent are the Piper Cheyenne series, despite the great payware UI aircraft creating a lot of awareness of the type.

By the way, just a little follow up from an FSX user...the aircraft.cfg has wing_span at a much to small value, making the parking radius in FSX 20-something meters. The correct value would be wing_span = 240.50, enabling the plane to use large cargo spots...Had a look at the takeoff roll, and it still gracefully lumbers into the air after using lots of runway. :o

Would be very easy to enable such basic FSX compatibillity right from the start.. :)

Looks great in my sim, thanks again!  ::party::
