sounds interesting ... though given I swapped from WOAI to AIFP given the later's "flexibility" to limit traffic files to regions flown, to mix payware & freeware liveries models, and to check aircraft.cfg during install.

whichever, i'm sure it will be of benefit to "those who might otherwise use commercial AI engines" particularly if it is updated as often as AIFP can be.

cheers

Stupid question, but since i have over several Gbs of AI planes, both freeware and payware, can a program use the data that is already on disk?

What about potential customisation of default options set in your tool? I mean for example that I use 3-digits code to name my texture folders rather than using "default" names provided by painters, as well as I usually rename different lines in fltsim.cfg to make all them "standard" and avoid all these Airbus 320, Airbus A320, A320-200 (i.e. different names of the model in a single folder) etc in the system.

no, it will use its own files, but if you install a new flightplan with OCI, you can (or the tool will do it for you) remove the old BGL and fltsim-entries/texture folder.

the tool will not do anything to your own local AI Setup. It will create a own "AI environment" with SimObjects/BGLs/etc.

Personally I see this program as a substitute or replacement for WOAI. But the main difference is that OCI will update your flightplans and repaints, which WOAI couldn't.

If you want total control over your AI, then just use AIFP. The plans will still be fully functional with AIFP, so nothing is lost, just because OCI comes around. You can still do as you have done until now, and leave OCI.

that's correct. OCI will feature some more functionality, since we are in our own environment - We will explain that some point later

That's a feature I would be interested in. :)

This sounds good.
1. Will it delete unused cfg entries and unused textures when it updates flightplans?
2. How will it handle flightplans where either models or textures currently unavailable - the ones that show up in red in AIFP?
3. As it is for P3Dv4, there will be no DXT3 textures installed that later have to be manually converted?
Title: Re: [Announcement\WIP] AIG AI Manager - One Click Installer
Post by: johanfrc on November 18, 2018, 05:21:06 PM
DXT3 will work fine in P3Dv4. It's just because we are getting used to see DXT1 or DXT5 files only. But that doesn't mean DXT3 won't work.

But that could be a nice addition to get some sort of converter that converts a paint from i.e. 32-bit or DXT3 BMP  to DXT5 DDS.

Yes it will

You will not have a unassigned AC-Title after an OCI installation. How we do that, will be announced later.

We thought about that, and are currently awaiting a response from Lookhead Martin

Short Dev-Update:

There are still some bugs left, but we are getting there :stirpot: The OCI-Process itself is working without any major error. The errors we had during out last tests were caused by fault repaint and model archives. Right now we are at a point to decide if we want to include one more features to the 0.8 release or if we will bring itlater:

for sure  :)

we already work with a prefered texture method picking dds DXT5 mipped textures, if available

Good news indee! But what about the conversion option then? Should we expect that textures will be converted into mipped DDS DXT5?

Post by: sharklet_a319 on November 21, 2018, 09:57:56 PM
When we implement the conversion of texture, we will transform them to dds, DXT5 mipped  :)

But as Kai said: currently we have some bugs to fix, which has priority at the moment.

With the new one click installer, what about handling alternate ICAOs?  I have at least one modified airport that has an alternate ICAO that matches the real world ICAO that was changed and is different to the ICAO in stock P3D.  AIFP can be set to identify these and "redirect" traffic to the substitute ICAO.

AIM (OCI) automatically checks if the actual ICAO is available on your system and sets the airport code to match with your set up (actual ICAO or FSX default)

We have added the DDS DXT5 MIPs conversion to AIGAIM-OCI. If the texture file is not DDS DXT5 Mip AIGAIM-OCI will (if you have ImageTool.exe) convert the texture files to DDS DXT5 Mips.

Today we have extendet our internal tests to more users and have improved the some parts of the code, including the installation time of some flightplans. :stirpot:

For textures without Alpha DXT1 DDS is still the best option. At least to my knowledge. For textures with Alpha DXT5 DDS.

This sounds very very exciting.

I'm sure your fine but, if you need an extra tester, i wouldn't mind helping out.

Cheers!

Hi Guys,

Firstly - Fantastic idea and very much appreciated! I miss WOAI immensely and have been stuck using UTLive since I feel for the 'early release' hype. I was wondering if you might be able to provide some insight into a couple of things?

- Presuming I start with a fresh install of P3DV4 (no 3rd party AI), is it safe to assume that any AI downloaded/installed by your OCI will be verified as a P3D Compliant model?

- Is there any method possible to alter or restrict AI from particular airports? For example, if I regularly fly into Gatwick and decide I want to disable all the AI that lands/takes off at Heathrow (because it adds significantly to the CPU workload) is that possible? It's something UT2 used to do  (and UTLive says it can but there's a bug there). I realise it's possible to edit traditional FlightPlan files but it might be beyond the scope of your OCI

- As another users noted (and you've confirmed) we can use payware AI traffic. For those of us with several GBs of existing AI Traffic, will we need to cusomise our Titles or .CFGs in anyway to have them recognised by the OCI?

- Out of interest, how many AIG FP's (with complete AI models/textures) are out there at the moment? Its hard to tell.

Oh, and of course...WHEN WILL IT BE READY?!?!?!  ;D ;D

Thanks heaps

this would mean a significant change of the BGLs, so far AIM is noct able to performe such a thing.

All Models will be v4 caombatible, if there is a model that is currently not for v4 the model will be installed and later updatet.

OCI will be installed as a seperate Addon, all models will be installed from scratch there.

For Summer 2018 we had around 250 FP, all OCI ready

Hi Kaiii,

I don't usually ask questions like this, and I've seen your reply a couple of posts up, but can you give any pointers as to how far away from a release you are? I'm not trying to be pushy, but I just installed P3D4.4 a couple of nights ago and am wondering if I should go through the effort of putting my ai back in (I want to use the xml method this time) or if I would be better to wait for the AIG AI manager.

Thanks in advance
Jack

The release depends on the betatest. Right now we are testing it quite intensely, and have found some bugs and also got some new features added.

As JC said we are running our interal tests now and have added some more features (you will kike them ;)) We will not announce any release date. The release will depends on 2 conditions:

1) All bugs are fixed - meaning all airlines of Su 2018 will be installed without any bug on any test-system
2) The developers have some spare time on the days after the release to provide support

Thanks

OCI will be at the beginning AIG exclusiv, since it rquiers a special way of handling the configuration file (AIG.xml). This file should only be generated by a special tool which is AIG internal

Hi Guys,

Is there a version of AIG AI Manager that works with FSX? If so, where can I find it, as your download files seem to be very cunningly hidden. I have a ton of ageing WOAI files and would love to find something that could update those without major upheavals. Is such a thing possible?

No. It's P3Dv4 only.
