it is a great software :) If you are using the freeware addon already you know how great this will be.

For your information: The AI Traffic in the Video is from Traffic Global, no AIGAIM-OCI Models/Repaints have been used. But The Payware Addon has been fully tested with AIGAIM-OCI and is working without any major error (some models are needing an update, but this updates are already in progress) :)

Morning Folks,

I think a lot of answers can be found at the FS Reborn web site:

https://www.fsreborn.com/ai-lights-reborn-professional-edition

I don't want to take up AIG's bandwidth so I would direct you to an active thread at AVSIM:

https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/560142-fsreborns-ai-lights-reborn-professional-p3dv4-insights/

I greatly respect this site and forum as a freeware site so any questions you may have should be handled there.  Mods, if I have overstepped apologies and please delete this post.

Best Regards,
Gerald

The reason why I'm asking the question about FSPXAI is because I just started to switch back to TFS/UTT combo due to the lighting issue. IF the issue is being fixed with Ai Light Reborn PRO, I'd rather halt the transition.

As far I can see the A330, A330neo and 787 series features this update.

 A340, A350, A380 and B777 not yet! Hopefully the MD11 will come along, too!

EDIT: I guess the A350 comes next.

Easy way to check is to look in aircraft.cfg and see if there's a lights section with multiple entries, at least for nav and strobes. Also make sure they are in numerical order with the first entry 0, not 1. Example below from FSP MD11 PW:

[LIGHTS]
// 1=Beacon, 2=Strobe, 3=Navigation or Position, 4=Cockpit, 5=Landing, 6=Taxi, 7=Recognition, 8=Wing, 9=Logo, 10=Cabin
//light.0=7,  4.000,-29.833, -5.700, fx_nicksmokeAI_777_AB
//light.1=7,  4.000, 29.833, -5.700, fx_nicksmokeAI_777_AB

Nothing there for AILRP to work with. All the light effects except the Recognition are in the model.

Shamelessly copied from Avsim:

Some of you asked about FSPXAI and if their lights are changed by AILRP?
Trust me, I was a pain in the back for Simbol in the past months and asked him frequently for compatibility. The issue with the FSPXAI models is their non-compliance with the SDK. The author of FSPXAI used a hack to overcome a bug of the way how P3D handled the effect rendering in the distance. This bug was identified during our beta test and reported to LM, who meanwhile fixed it (I think with version 4.5?). However, FSPXAI was very reluctant to change to the proper design technique until this summer. Only the latest PRB updates introduced SDK-conform light effects for the FSPXAI models. The B777, A340, A350, A380, MD-11 still use the old hack, while the A220, A330, and B787 were updated to proper effect lights by FSPXAI. During the development of AILRP, it was necessary to draw the line at some point and finalize the build for release. Just at this point in development, FSPXAI began to implement its updates. So we all agreed that support for FSPXAI should be looked at again when there is a stable model base to build on (meaning, FSPXAI has implemented proper effect lights for most of the models and sticks to that way).

FSPXAI in a nutshell?
A post-release item that will be investigated and that depends on proper FSPXAI SDK-compliance.

Will this cover general aviation and biz jets? Or is this just for commercial planes for now?
Title: Re: AI Lights Reborn Pro Edition trailer
Post by: gsand on October 04, 2019, 12:12:07 AM
Covers everything that is SDK compliant. We've actually found relatively very few who can't be at least partially modified. According to the program I've got over 7000 variations installed and only 12 that are not supported. There are others who are listed as Fallback which means AILRP did what it could but couldn't modify everything for a variety of reasons. The program does list all the models with issues so you can go and correct some issues yourself. Currently I've got about 1250 in Fallback.

Specifically for GA and Bizjet, the Cessnas, Beech's, Gulfstreams and Challengers have never looked better. The G-V's coming in at night are really great. I'm posting some videos at Avsim tomorrow late day and I'll include some GA/Biz.

Not sure what his cost is going to be but I assure you that it will be worth absolutely every penny.  I've been shocked since day one at how nice the lighting NOW looks in the sim.

Question - is AIG/OCI software already aware how to deal with the commercial version of FSR Lights? I haven't bought it yet, but definitely plan to do it. However, I'd like to avoid all possible hassles between the freeware and commercial versions

I installed the program yesterday. It reported several AIG OCI aircraft as having missing light sections. How are those best dealt with?
Title: Re: AI Lights Reborn Pro Edition trailer
Post by: RayP on October 22, 2019, 10:41:53 AM
Further to my earlier message here is one example of the lights section that AiReborn has found to be incompatible with the SDK. This is not intended as a criticism as I appreciate all freeware. This is from the AIGAIM_FSP_A350-900 aircraft.cfg..

[LIGHTS]
// 1=Beacon, 2=Strobe, 3=Navigation or Position, 4=Cockpit, 5=Landing, 6=Taxi, 7=Recognition, 8=Wing, 9=Logo, 10=Cabin
//For those who has installed Nick Needham's Exhaust Effects
//light.0 = 7,  4.000,-29.833, -5.700, fx_nicksmokeAI_777_AB
//light.1 = 7,  4.000, 29.833, -5.700, fx_nicksmokeAI_777_AB

Any clues as to how this can be made compatible?
Title: Re: AI Lights Reborn Pro Edition trailer
Post by: russodell on October 22, 2019, 11:49:44 AM
RayP, remember, FSP aircraft have their lights built in to the model.  AILRP will not put lights on models that have the lights baked into the model.  ;)
Title: Re: AI Lights Reborn Pro Edition trailer
Post by: RayP on October 22, 2019, 12:44:22 PM
I didn't know that, thanks. So a fix is not possible then? Surely the author should stick to the SDK when they put that much effort in?  ???

Numerous people have been trying to tell the FSP developer for a long period of time, so we are just going to have to hope that he eventually complies.

It's highly unlikely as the most recent updates have been released in last 6 months, so I presume that he had been already in communications with simbol at this point of time and didn't listen anyway. Big FSPAI 777 update is coming in November, so let's hope that this time it would be different.

How about AIG do not allow Ai models that deviate from the SDK? Controversial perhaps but shouldn’t a certain standard be enforced before contributions are accepted.

Is it fair to try to force AIG to become the arbiter between two payware developers?  I suggest that just as many members of the AIG community use FSPX models as those that use the AI lights add-on, so the best policy for AIG is to do nothing. It is possible for AIG FM users to select freeware models instead of the FSPX versions.

I'm not aware of what models I'm using when I choose to install an airline. Is it possible to know what model is used before making that choice?

Are the FSPX models made by several contributors or just one? If one, can he/she be persuaded to stick to the SDK? What advantages, if any, do FSPX models have over the others?

Better visuals (incl. PBR on the latest models) at the price of slightly higher FPS. And keep in mind that FSP is a payware product. AIG/OCI will ask you during the installation of your first package whether you have required files for FSPAI or not. If you don't have then, the OCI will proceed automatically with TFS/UTT/AIA models. If you have never been asked to choose between the AI package, than most likely you have TFS/UTT models.

Don't forget that the FSPX models also provide the most unrealistic lights that won't look like anything else in your sim. It boggles my mind how FSP strives for accuracy yet, in my opinion, ruins a perfectly good model with substandard lighting.  The new TFS updated models should not be overlooked simply due to their age.

What exactly  is unrealistic about FSP lighting? On the old models, they strobes and Nav lights were way too big. Thats has now been fixed.

Also the price of this is kinda silly I'm sorry to say. $27 for some lights  :D ;D

Whether you purchase or not is entirely up to you, but do not underestimate how much time and effort Simbol has put into this project. I have it on good authority that getting the lights to work properly in the simulator is nowhere near as easy as some people might think.
