Title: Prepar3D 5.2 online
Post by: Kaiii3 on June 09, 2021, 07:16:12 PM
https://www.prepar3d.com/news/announcements/2021/06/120786/

incl. some major fixes needed for AIGTC and improved night visuals with PBR on our Models. For AILRP I am sure Simbol will make use of the new effect system as well ;)

Code: [Select]
Updated ISimObject AI logic.
Good for us? See no other possible AI related things.

Cool, and I just reinstalled 5.1 HF1 from scratch :groan:

Oh well, might as well bite the bullet and reinstall once more :D

A full P3d uninstall/reinstall should take under 30 minutes. It's not like it used to be.

It takes more time to download it than to install it.

AIG AI is having a massive perf hit in 5.2.

In 5.1, I was getting 26+ FPS with 50 AIG aircraft at FlyTampa's KLAS. I use AI Companion to limit traffic.

Now, in 5.2, I'm getting *7* FPS with the same number of AI. If I turn off AI, my fps goes to 40+.

Anyone else seeing this?

I have installed all my AI by hand and with P3D v5.2 my framerates are all over the place! I was at Islandsim's Salt Lake City and while taxing around my frames were as low as 3 and as high as 55!

Having the exact same issue here.

1) Perform a full reinstall (Client, Content, Scenery)
2) Delete Generated Files (via batch file)
3) Disable all other addons
4) Start P3Dv5 again

I suspect I may need to do a complete reinstall (cursed addon scenery that insist on placing files in the default folders, otherwise it would be quick and easy), as while the FPS aren't too terrible even with my low amounts of AI presently, it's taking absolutely forever to load scenery textures ::confused::

I'm seeing reports that third party shaders (ie. EnvShade etc.) is behind a large part of the fps hit. I'll reinstall this afternoon/evening and report back.

Installed 5.2 and I'm very impressed, so I think it is time now to give 4.5 the final rest and take all my remaining addons and the whole AI setup into the next generation. But I need at least half of my vacation for this  :D

Interested to hear the overall opinion on 5.2 and how it fairs vs 5.1

I'm reinstalling all OCI again.. Gonna take some time before it's back working.

A hint for those who are noticing these FPS issues: Clear the shader cache will do the thing.

Not quite. You have to delete the ShadersHLSL folder in the main P3D directory then reinstall the client to fix it.

How difficult it would be to "adjust" the ADE files created for V4 in mind for V5? Seems like the transition might take a week!

One full reinstall later and normal service has been resumed on my end ::cheers::

Not that difficult at all (barring something unusual). Load up the v4 BGL in ADE, find the Tools > Load Stock Data function, select Scenery Objects and Taxi Signs and press OK. Then go into Tools > Remove Stock Data function, and then recompile the file.

Thanks.

I assume that ADE software itself should be linked with the V5 SDK at this point of time, correct?

Correct. However, do note that it's not entirely bulletproof, it depends on what the developer have kept in or left out of the ADE to begin with, and in some cases it requires a bit more work.

I know the feeling, I decided to step up to v5 when I got my new machine and having to see what works and what doesn't has been a challenge at times.

Hi, also have a very high FPS hit by AIG OCI Traffic. Without the traffic all is running as expected, with the all addons. As soon as the AIG OCI Configuration is set active....fps down to 1.
Full install, reseted files.

Maste hawk, have you done the following:
You have to delete the ShadersHLSL folder in the main P3D directory then reinstall the client to fix it.

Are you running envshade by chance? Had the same issues with those shaders on. Turns out it’s not compatible with 5.2 yet :) maybe worth a try?

BTW - what is the reason for the full reinstall?

Nothing special. I just wanted to get a clean reinstall.

I installed 5.2 on Friday. Client, Content and Scenery in that order. I deleted the contents of the Shaders folder and as I had no 3rd party shader program no further action on that was required.

I also deleted Prepar3d.cfg. Performance is not as fluid as 5.1. CPU1 frequently hits 100% and GPU usage is around 32%. I suspect LM have moved more processing from the GPU to the CPU resulting in poorer performance for those of us using AIG.

There are suggestions they’re looking at tweaking performance but whether it includes the CPU/GPU balance is unknown. If they don’t then I’ll revert to 5.1 which was okay for me.

I did a full install also, but also removed all of the leftover files from the unisntall and then just re-added the scenery.cfg and addons.cfg's. So far, my performance in 5.2 has I'd have to say better than I've ever seen from any previous version. It runs better, looks better and the AI lights now AILRP look so much better than they ever have many thanks to AILRP. I'm a pretty happy camper right now.

5.2 has been the best improvement in visuals since a long time, spacially night flights are now a pure joy - no we just have to wait for ASP3D ::evilgrin::

Eh? I'm using the latest beta build from them without any issues - other than some fast clouds when I first load up the sim ???

Installed 5.2, ran OCI, selected V5 and it took roughly 25 minutes to install everything in the 5.2. Now I have traffic in both sims!

Back to 4.5HF3.

Even with volumetric clouds OFF, both dusk and dawn are pictures from the apocalypses and REX textures work with EA=ON. Turning the EA off kills the entire immersion. FPS gain isn't significant.

Back to 4.5HF3.

and back to crazy long load times with AI. In V4 I had to break up my AI to minimize massive load times, if I had it all enabled it was in excess of 20-25 mins. In V5 with everything loaded, it's less than 3.
 Each to their own though.

Yes, v4 loads longer than V5, BUT!!! it’s not 25 vs 5. It’s 3 min vs 30 seconds in my case . I have only commercial and cargo AI installed. Both sims are on M2 SSD.

You just don't have enough AI aircraft installed is all. All of my AI traffic is also on a Samsung 970 Evo M2 and that's the real difference.
