Title: Welcome to the AIG Bombardier CRJ-900
Post by: Ben on February 03, 2009, 05:44:37 PM
As we are fast approaching our first anniversary, and to kick off the new year we decided to release a long overdue model from AIG - the Bombardier CRJ-900.

This is the first model release from our talented new modeller Garry Lewis, who some of you might know from his various flightplans and paints. Andy Carroll has also made a great contribution to this project, especially in the area of LOD building. Together they have created a fully functional, framerate friendly aircraft for your AI skies!

The poly count for this model at LOD 1 is 3066, and contains six LODs in total. We have done extensive testing on the performance of this model and were very happy with the results.

Enjoy!

5 of the 7, plus the NW "Soaring Eagle" paint is suppose to be N901XJ not N902XJ. Other than that awesome work, looking foward to adding these!

Again there goes an old model into the trash can. Served well for a long time but one time everybody has to go to make room for someone new. Thanks for this wonderful new creation!

Now, Garry, what will you do with your free time? Working on the next surprise? ::evilgrin::

BTW: ::happybirthday:: AIG

the NW "Soaring Eagle" paint is suppose to be N901XJ not N902XJ.
The difference between 902 and 929 is:

http://www.airliners.net/photo/NWA-Airlink-(Mesaba/Canadair-CL-600-2D24-Regional/1463495/M/
http://www.airliners.net/photo/NWA-Airlink-(Mesaba/Canadair-CL-600-2D24-Regional/1458493/M/

Respectively; There is no Soaring Eagle repaint out (yet? ::evilgrin:: )

Correct. The only difference is the placement of the small "Operated by Mesaba" titles. ;)
If I remember right everything under 908 has them forward and above has it at the rear.

There'll be a second batch of paints, of which I'm hoping includes Comair (both NC and 30th Anniversary) and Northwest Airlink's Soaring Eagle.

and Northwest Airlink's Soaring Eagle.

Well...I'll admit that until it was mentioned in this thread I had no idea N901XJ wore any special titles. I was scratching my head about this whole "soaring eagle" thing.
But the good news is that I've got it figured out now, and you'll see 901 as part of round 2 uploads.  ::ashamed:: :P

Thanks for this one guys, she looks gorgeous! Also nice to see more folk try their hand at modelling.
With the fairly close release of this, the UGA challengers, and the AIM CRJ-200, a good look can be had at different construction methods between them.
Interesting stuff.
::confused:: ;)

Now we have the AIM CRJ 200 and the AIG CRJ 900. But who will build a new model for the golden mean of the series, the CRJ 700? Maybe AMG  ;)

Your're right, if better or not .. it's your choice.

But AIM + AIG = AMG (the 'I' can be reduced). I know, its only a try to explain it mathematical  :D So if I'm right we will see the front made by AIG and the back made by AIM ..

Thanks for the CRJ900 because it looks great, works great and was greatly needed.

Has left me with the problem of finding a new US airport to be a showcase for American AI traffic. The Skywest CRJ900s clogged up Salt Lake City/KSLC.  Must stay away from airports that are used as hubs.

I'm not entirely certain what the status is on that one, but I know it is in progress and will hopefully make round 2.
