When all the newspapers predicted merger mania, and all these mergers failed (US after DL, AirTran after Midwest, and the initial DL and NW meetings), I figured that this was merely just hype. I always thought that Consolidation was further from the doorstep than most papers were saying. In that respect, it certainly is a surprise.

It's going to be a radically different aviation industry all over the world in a few years. Anyone able to imagine 10 Widget tails hanging out at Schiphol?

What do you get when you merge a "Big Airline" and a "Crap Airline"..

A "Big Crap" ..  ::sick::

When will they learn?  ::confused::

On the other hand, this should help them raise prices..

On one hand, it'll be sad to see the Northwest Airlines brand fade, 82 years of history down the drain >:(. It makes me wonder what they're going to do with the intra-Asia flights, where I presume Northwest is a much more known brand than Delta.

On the other hand, those Airbiis are going to look great in the current Delta colours (unless they come up with another one between now and then).

. of course, it all depends on the merger actually making it through, as some of the NWA unions have said they will put up a fight.
