A decent AI model for C17?
« on: October 01, 2017, 08:55:06 AM »
Are there any good C17 ai models to the likes of TFS/FAIB quality? After much search have only found some mention of very old PAI models and limited repaints. Bit surprising this aircraft hasn't got a latest ai treatment.

The PAI model is the only one available currently. I doubt that the model will get updated to FSX/P3D native due to permission issues. Hopefully someone will take up the challenge and create a newer model.

If anyone updates it, it will be the MAIW guys.    They've been updating some a/c, I believe, but not the C-17.
Prepar3D v4, Intel i5-2500k 3.30 GHz @ 4.22 GHz, GigaByte P67A-UD4-B3, Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8GB, nVidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti - 4 Gb DDR5,  Rosewill Xtreme RX850-S-B 850W, Windows 10 Professional 64-bit,  Dell S2209W 1920x1080 Screen

I know I don't have close to whats available and I've got 225 C-17 repaints, certainly not limited.

My bad for not checking out the liveries better, certainly looks like many liveries are available. I was also looking for Indian air force livery which I couldn't find.

I just came across UKMIL C17 which appears to be a good user aircraft model. They seem to have some AI models as well, hope they adapt their C17 to AI some time.

The Indian C-17's are in this package: https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004aia&DLID=191576

A good place to search for military AI is here: http://www.owlsnest.eu/aiaircraft.php

Greg,

Do you know if anything is being done for those who have swapped to P3Dv4 (ie, conversion of the older models)?  The MAIW transports/tankers were a staple in my older sim (as were so many other very nice models from the world of MAIW) but right now, my sim is sincerely lacking them.  I just picked up the latest ORBX Germany and ETAR was modeled really quite nicely.  Sadly, tho, the AMC ramp was starkly void of anything that looks like what I'm used to seeing.

One of our staff members is looking into this, but the process is terribly slow..  :'(

Most of our military models have a lot of animations that are tied to all sorts triggers which no longer exist in FSX and P3D, such as the beacon lights coming on 15' prior departure. Fighter pilots appearing/disappearing, canopies opening/closing, fuel booms extending during cruise, RBF tags, afterburner effects..

On top of that, we don't have the manpower to assemble a team. The few guys we have left are all busy with other projects in between personal stuff, so we're lucky to have Steve looking into this with occasional help from Gavin.
