FSPXAI Boeing 787 wingspan
« on: October 02, 2018, 06:28:20 PM »
I have just noticed that the wingspan of the FSPXAI Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 is defined as 155.4 feet in the aircraft.cfg file. It should be 197.2 feet...

I'm not sure why mine is different, but it is showing 197.25 feet.    Don't ever recall making any edits.

I'm not back at my flightsim PC until next week, but as I recall, the freeware 787 (copyright 2016) has the wrong wingspan and the payware (copyright 2018) has the correct wingspan. The "lore" behind the mistake was that the author copied the FXPS MD11 aircraft.cfg to create the 787 freeware aircraft.cfg files and forgot to change the wingspan value.

Possible, but a proper MD11 wingspan would be different still from that erroneous 787 entry.

Real-life figures do not matter in the P3D. What does matter is that a certain AI should fit into a parking spot and do not interfere with other AI.

The FXPS MD11 has the same wingspan in aircraft.cfg as the one in the freeware 787 file. It's an obvious copypasta typo that has be pointed out previously.

The model's actual wingspan you would think would be fairly close to real world, so the wing_span entry in the cfg should be at least similar.

...which is best achieved by defining the correct wingspan in the aircraft.cfg file, and the correct parking radius values in airport AFD files. After all, addon airports are scaled 1:1 with respect to the size of AI planes.
