Primera gone down the pan!
« on: October 01, 2018, 05:48:38 PM »
Primera have announced that they have applied for bankruptcy. They are citing exceptional delays on the New Airbus they were due to be getting and the additional costs of having to lease planes in to cover them as well as the repayment of one airframe which suffered extensive corrosion which they did not plan for.

In addition Stansted have impounded one of their planes for non payment which was due to fly to EWR this afternoon.

Their livery was one I always looked out for on FS and in real life but its a cut throat business these days.

Well, that was in the line of expectations ofcourse, opening all those silly transatlantic routes from places where nobody knows Primera. Cobbler, stick to your last, they should have sticked to the Scandinavian holiday business, like they have been doing for nearly ten years.

Recently, the situation of Norwegian Air International gives up the service of long-haul flights between Edinburgh and the United States.
And he will also cancel flights from Belfast to New York and Boston-Providence.
Primera Air is already bankrupt. Shock!!

Just talked to Dennis and we both agreed that they should have kept their initial operation, focusing on the Scandinavian charter market.

But okay. They lost more than â?¬10 millions last year. And 20 mil more this Summer is not good. So it's only natural that they decided to close the doors.

The airline industry is very competitive, capital intensive, has high and unpredictable costs (labor, fuel), is heavily regulated. In addition, it is difficult to differentiate your product, and most airlines compete on price. Why are so many people attempting to fly Transatlantic?
If Ryanair don't want to fly transatlantic how did Primera think they were going to make it work?  ::goofy::

Im shocked but also not...if that makes sense.

Proper sad to see though. I remember thinking it was strange to see them suddenly propose bases at Stansted to the States and elsewhere.

Crazy growth from nowhere and to try and challenge NAX!!?!

Did the Neo's have Pratt's? In which case wouldn't Pratt be responsible for the bill for delays.

Someone I know is now looking for another gig, and you know what sucks the most? They started at Primera after losing their job at Monarch, a year ago to the day that they lost their job at Primera. I really hope their next gig is a lot kinder to them, maybe EZY or TCX.
