Hi everyone I was wondering if there were restrictions for regional jets involving flying over oceans cause I googled but I haven’t found anything matching my query.
Well, RJs naturally have short range, due small fuel tanks. In Brazil, ERJ190/195 making SBRF-SBFN route, over Atlantic Ocean by 296nm. In the past, TRIP Airlines make SBEG-TNCM route with Embraer 190 over 1272nm, but a not "over ocean" route. In mid of 2000, like 2003-2004, VARIG does SBRF-SBFN route with Embraer 145.
In my experience in Regional Airlines, im unknow a ETOPS certification for any Regional Jets, only a ATR72 turboprop have "ETOPS" for flying on other side of world (Pacific).
