P3D Crash with traffic enabled at some airports
« on: October 12, 2019, 10:16:13 PM »
Hi,

I have experienced some crashes recently. On Wednesday I had a crash in flight between Bogota and Quito. I figured that it was just one of those random issues. Today, I was excited to install the Volaris plans. I installed, loaded MMUN and everything looked great. I switched to MMMX to check things out and the sum crashed while loading traffic (about 91%). I uninstalled Volaris and it still crashed. I checked MMUN again and it was fine, but KLAS crashed. I thought it may be something in common between KLAS and MMMX, so I uninstalled Aeromoxico, Viva Aerobus and Interjet. MMMX still crashed. If, however, I load a flight and disable AI traffic in options before I load the flight, MMMX loads.

All crashed are at the same point - ~91%. Some airports will load with traffic enabled, and all will load with it disabled. I haven't tested every airport, of course.

Any ideas for next steps would be great. Logs attached.

FYI, I'm pretty sure the issue is the MAIW NA region. There is a thread aty MAIW documenting the crashes, and removing the NA region fixes the issue for me.

This is indeed an issue in Matrix North America.

I have posted an amended aircraft.cfg file on our forums to test.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Thanks Greg!  Been running it at MMMX for a while now with no hiccups.  What was it in the cfg that was causing the Rickki Laake drama?

After a lot of white rabbit chasing, I remembered a thread here about some Il-76 paints where the author had swapped atc_parking_types with atc_parking_codes which led to CTD's. So I had a look at some Mexican aircraft that were added in the last update and there it was.

The painter had written:

atc_parking_types=FAM
atc_parking_codes=MIL_CARGO

instead of:

atc_parking_types=MIL_CARGO
atc_parking_codes=FAM

Wow. Really nice detective work on that.

Also nice to have another thing to look for in case I have sim issues in the future.

We will add some kind of error check to AIM for that :stirpot:

Specifies the preferred parking for this aircraft, used by ATC. If this line is omitted, ATC will determine parking according to the type of aircraft and parking available. If multiple values are listed, preference will be given in the order in which they are listed. The valid values may be one or more of the following: RAMP, CARGO, GATE, DOCK, MIL_CARGO, MIL_COMBAT.

From the SDK, so it is clear for everyone why this causes the crash
