Really desperate.. since my last post I formated and reinstalled win10 from scratch, hence the simulator and AIG manager.. and I have so far tried to keep the set up to a minimum.. but is driving me nuts. I first just installed 6 flightplans manually. During the process all went well, not a glitch.
Then, one day I decided to install the remaining 1000+ with OCI. It did it, but the very second I finished, as soon as you closed AIGM, it won't behave properly ever again. And since then I have:
  • Uninstall reinstall the whole thing (AIG tools)
Delete all OCI related bits until AIGM behaves normal again (with the 6 manually installed FPs), and then reistall the 1000+ (3 times!)
Review runtime for errors, run sfc several times.. all normal
Inspect with the tools I have available: process monitor, event viewer and AIGM logs..
Disable the ATC\gvp files (actually is only USEnglishBig.gvp and the occasional AIG one)
Monitor the access to this file, and monitor any access to this file..

The errors in event viewer are consistently the two ones I put above but the behavior is erratic:
  • AIGM startup doesn't always crash during the same action, sometimes is during simobjects load, others loading OCI and less often loading flghtplans. However the event viewer errors are always the same.
But the funny thing, every once in a while, without doing anything else in the PC than trying, it gets up and runing, and actually runs properly until I close it again..
Processor monitor does not find any process accessing .gvp files other than AIGM; only when it crashes, there just 3 last lines that come up from system, which reveals very little to me.
I also monitored the access to simobject folders looking for a corrupted model with no succes. I even tricked the tool, disabeling AIGM simobjects folder replacing it for an empty one, and then AIGM started normally but I couldn't replicate it again so I assume is one of those random occassions I described..
And forgot to say, traffic shows up perfectly in the sim despite not being able to open AIMG. AIGTC and Companion also work well.
So here I am, with one of the biggest misteries I'm facing in FS in about 23 years..
Debugging suggestions are very welcome.
Cheers

Unbeliabeable.. I managed to start AIGM several times today (among quite a few attemps though) So not sure what is going on.. what I found is tha the files from .NET that consistently come up avery time the crash happens are System.core.ni.dll, mscorlib.ni.dll, clr.dll (one of them, radomly, in my post above was mscorlib.ni.dll but ca be any of them) I unisntalled .NET (through windows features) but the random issue persists with around 90% failing to load an only succeding about 5% of the attempts..

Please Kaii, have a look at the picture attached. It is from Handle by sysinternal, and captured the moment AIGM crashed. Event viewer reported the attempt to load a gvp file from P3D (Sounds/ATC) already described above, but this time as you can see, the only process trying to access an .gvp file was AIGM, in particular USEnglishBigAIG.gvp which is an AIG file not a "my computer's file", so whatever is causing th eproblem may be because something in that file? As you can see, nobody else is opening that file or any other in that directory. I hope it helps because I'm going to shoot myself! ::confused::
