Simple texture installer
« on: March 15, 2008, 01:10:40 PM »
I'm a bit tied of installing textures by making a new texture-folder. copy some BMP-files and then add a entry to the aircraft.cfg. Can someone guide me to a simple texture installer? I have tried the PAI Texture installer but it was not as I hoped.

Yes, you may try MRAI Install Wizard v1.24. Download from file library at http://www.fsalliance.net.
And it need a corresponding airlines FPs when install a new texture.

But the folder name only have ICAO code (e.g JAL , JAL_1). You need to edit folder name & aircraft.cfg if you want it in good order.

I do this for fun so I won't set myself under pressure.

Actually I was hoping for something where I didn't have to install AI at the same time.

Wasn't there some texture installer at pai? I can remember something like that, "pai texture manager" or so it was called.

That's what Johan is talking about.
Was made by Claude Lacey. However to work well, the installer needed some form of zip file naming convention. Form that was respected by PAI only ..

I'd also say MRAI installer.. I can understand that you wouldn't want to have to install AI at the same time, but then again, what's the use of installing textures if you don't put in the FP's too... Unless you want to do that manually.

The advantage of doing it manually (in my opinion) is that you can use your own "naming system", and the disadvantage would be that it's in some cases hard to know which model you should use, and it's usually a bit of work typing everything.

I don't know of a program that's requested, but I think I'll stick with MRAI, which is user-friendly, and not too time-consuming (unless I get drowned in a 40-file FP-release again ;)).

Okay. I'll stick with MRAI. I hoped that there was another simple texture installer. I tried Addit! Pro but OMG what a mess. I uninstalled it faster then I downloaded it.

I'll install with MRAI for the future. Thanks.
