"Morten's" AI Pirates
« on: October 13, 2009, 04:42:14 PM »
Hi

This site came to our attention today http://aitraffic.aforumfree.com/forum.htm as providing an AI package along the lines of skAI - freeware models, freeware flightplans, freeware repaints etc. etc. without having sought permission from any of the authors whose time went into creating what they are using nor, of course, giving any credit to authors for their work.

We have passed on these details to TFS, WOAI, RATS and other parties.  WOAI have already posted a demand on their forums for all WOAI sourced material to be removed within 2 weeks or else..

If the first few posts in the forum give you the impression this was innocently done, please do look at this thread http://aitraffic.aforumfree.com/smalltalk-f7/legitamacy-of-product-t11.htm

Authors and developers may well want to follow Tom's lead to protect your work..
Best regards

Matthew

Well, they put their files on piratebay, so think that's enough said, really.

You guys sadly are not the first, and sadly won't be the last FS group to have their material misused.

Hope you can get this sorted.

Rob

That kind of attitude just pisses me off. Going against the will of payware authors is not ok, but ignoring the wishes of those who spend hours and days and months providing stuff for free if completely ok, they're just a bunch of whiners anyway! >:(

Looks like you've already had an effect on them...their forums now require you to sign up and login before you can read anything. I guess they are on notice..

I don't know if any of my stuff is in the package, but if there is any in it, and they'd asked, I'd be more than happy to let people use my stuff. It's the rudeness of it that gets me.  >:( ::rolleyes:

I think we did have an effect on them, their forum is offline now  ::cheers::

Now, up to getting those things taken down from the torrent sites.

Any ideas ??

Well that was fast! Great, thanks for your effort Peter!

To let withdraw torrents from e.g. Piratebay is another thing. As we know major companies try to do the same since years, with moderate success!

I think we could accept 'moderate success'.  How do they go about it ?

Well I got a reaction from the guy and it seems that we did have an effect indeed.
Here is an email I got from the guy :

Quote
Hi,

The torrents has been removed from TPB, as well as my account and i have stopped seeding. As for possible torrents on other sites, i am not responsible since i only published on TPB . This is not a single man project so you will have to go after some other guys if that is the case. As for the forum, i am not the main admin, so removal of this forum can only be done by the creator of the forum with full admin rights, but i have removed my account so won't have anything to do with the forum anymore. I gain nothing from this other than getting help to put together a great ai pack, so it's no problem for me to stop. I have done what I can, so you can consider me out of this project, and i won't break your copyrights in the future . blablabla

No hard feelings

Elgster

End quote

One down, many more to go  ;)

Kind regards,
Tom vd Horst

The name of who appeared to be the other rmain admin was "ChrisFlyer".  Sorry to say, I suspect ChrisFlyer is a member here..
