Please Look, Think and Post
« on: January 21, 2010, 10:41:36 AM »
Hi

Please don't take this the wrong way: we are happy to see the wide range of topics that get posted and happy to know that all our forum members are seeking and, hopefully, getting the help they need.  However, lately it has been the case that some topics seem to get posted willy nilly, so here are some tips (all aimed at helping us mods have a much easier time of it):

1.  There is a reasonable chance that your enquiry has been covered before.  You see that white box at the top right of your screen - well, it's white on my PC anyway - that says 'Search' alongside ?  Put one of the keywords from your topic in there and press the 'Search' button.  You might be surprised at what comes up..

2.  Think about what your topic most relates to.  As you will see, we have several boards here.  Not everything is 'General Discussion' and that's to help you.  Why ?  Well, think about it:  requests for repaints (whether new ones or searching for lost files on Avsim) will probably get the best response on the 'Repaints Requests' board (where repainters tend to look first), requests for Flightplans (whether new ones or searching for lost files on Avsim) will probably get the best response on the 'Flightplans Requests' board (where flightplanners tend to look first), requests for Afcads blah blah blah..  Help with PC and technical issues ?  'PC Hardware and Software for Flight Simulator' board (I think Ben got a bit carried away with that one) - stunning, isn't it and we thought all this out by ourselves..

3.  Last but not least, we fully respect that by no means everyone here has english as their first language.  However, most people posting here will be aware of some words and expressions in english such as 'please', 'thank you', 'awesome', 'you guys are the best' (I could go on) using any or all of which will boost the chance of a quick and positive response to your request or query..

So, please, for your sake and ours, search to see whether your query has already been exhaustively covered.  If not, your post is very welcome but please just take a couple of seconds to scan the options and post it in the best place - to get you the fastest response.  That way, you won't wake up next morning, log onto AIG forums and wonder what the heck has happened to your post, the answer to which turns out to be that one of us was here before having our second coffee of the morning and shifted it to where it should be..  ;)
