AIM - Support / Re: Why i have so many Flightsim Errors ?
« Last post by LionAir on Yesterday at 06:13:35 PM »
With me the same.
All FP are updated to the latest version and no defuncts.
Seems to be with all a texture problem (error in 'red' by texture=)
Have deleted all this FP's and re-installed, but no change
logs attached

It does apply changes to all aircraft.cfg files.
AIM - Support / Question regarding FDE
« Last post by Danny on Yesterday at 05:00:09 PM »
Does running verify/update simobject reinstal the FDE? Is so does it do it for all aircraft or only the updated ones?

I am wondering if there is any point in taking time to update the FDE just see the changes dissapear.

Good too know

Thanks guys. I looked at a plane with the prop line and one without the prop line. They look the same to me. So I will not be adding that line to the rest of my AI. It's a good thing too because I have a lot of prop AI!

It was a feature added in FS2002 to make it possible for users to control the prop animation speed, to make props look better. It's counterpart prop_animation worked in FS9 and FSX, but I'm not sure it has been working since then. It was supposed to give the animation a small "wobble-effect" so it looked a bit more realistic. But I'm not sure it's a working feature in P3D now.

Already in FS9 MS decided to remove the use of prop_anim_speed for unknown reasons. They left it in the SDK documents though, maybe because they really didn't care about removing it from there. And it seems it has been there since even though it's not working anymore.

Maybe they did include it in the SDK, in case someone was adding it to the plane, simply so the sim will still read it, but not use it.

So I think you can easily remove it. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

I think the SDK has left this in just in case. I have removed this line from all of my aircraft.cfg’s and checked them in sim. There does not appear to be any problems with the aircraft that had a prop_animation_ratio= line.

Try removing the line from one type of aircraft, check it within the sim and if it works then fine. If it does not work then restore your aircraft.cfg from the backup you should have made before making the change.

I would guess if it has a propeller it would use/need it. For helicopters I would suggest checking the default P3D heli folders to check if it is there. That's my guess.

Usually the texture= line in the aircraft.cfg doesn't match the texture folder in the respective aircraft folder. Let's say I have a texture folder named texture.Southwest One, the texture= line should read Southwest One. Also maybe there is a space where there shouldn't be causing the texture folder to not be read. If you are using AIFP to auto install textures sometimes the developer mislabeled their texture folder with what is in the .cfg so while you can add the paint the paint name vs the fltsim entry could be mismatched. This issue can be fully resolved by manually installing and checking the fltsim entry and the texture folder. Takes more time but once it is done it is done.

OK it now works:

I removed "FPDatabase.xml" from "D:\AIG AIM\AIGAIM - OCI\Traffic Files\scenery" and then re-installed all the problem flightplans. closed down AIM then opened it up again. plans were still in the Updates or new plans window so I re-installed again then closed down AIM. Have just opened again and this time there are no plans awaiting in either window. FPDatabase seems to have re-built itself and all is back to normal. Thanks for the pointers  :)
